Description

Double Signed

Painting : This piece realistically depicts three swans in flight above a marsh scene set against beautiful color tones of beige, grays, browns, rust, greens.  The piece is set in a tasteful gold tone wooden frame with molded/carved perimeter in a scrolling design that beautifully complements the movement of the swans.

Artist :Gerhard Bluhm was born in Prussia, Germany and spent his youth in Schlesien and as a student was already an enthusiastic hunter and ornithologist. Most of his time was spent in the woods and lake areas, where he observed animals and birds and sketched scenes from nature. After he finished school in Breslau he was drafted into the military and served during WWII in Poland and Russia, eventually being captured as a prisoner of war. After the war he continued his studies at the Academies of Art in Berlin and Munich and completed his schooling in 1947. Among the many well-known professors of art under whom he studied were Professors Holleck-Weithmann, Carl Hofen, Seewald, and Wehlte. These studies included anatomy, figure painting, landscape  ...  Displaying 750 of 2811 characters. Familiar with wilderness and nature since his early childhood, Gerhard Bluhm developed a formidable painting talent. After completing studies in graphic arts, he worked as an independent painter. Wall paintings and large commissions ensued - followed by study trips and major exhibitions in several cities in the USA. All of the wilderness areas between the Mississippi and the northern Cascades received his artistic scrutiny for several months. During this period his award-winning paintings of bighorn sheep, Canada Geese, and bears were created. Today these paintings are owned by museums and galleries. A few years later the painter traveled through the Congo, Zaire and Zambia. Naturally this was an almost a live-threatening adventure, but the harvest in studies and paintings of rare beauty was significant.
