Description

Martin Linsey Signed Lithograph "The Falls"

Martin Louis Linsey grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. At a young age, Linsey worked on boats in the Caribbean, St. Augustine, Nassau, and Miami, Florida which inspired him to paint scenes of shrimp boats and yachts. Linsey was born partly color-blind but was still able to paint colorfully. He even made maps for the Army of combat zones in Italy, France, and Germany. After the war, Linsey earned a masterʼs degree in Art History at Case Western Reserve University. While completing his studies, Linsey worked in photography and industrial design, and made models for Dalton architects. For twenty years he worked in the Cleveland Museum of Artʼs education department. His work has been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Butler Art Institute, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and many other institutions and museums. After retiring to Scottsdale, Arizona, he volunteered as a photographer for the Phoenix Art Museum.
